Obverse
On the obverse within the inner circle framed by five-pointed stars there is depicted the map of Europe, under the upper star there is indicated the coin issue year 2009; on the outer ring there are the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine above and semicircular legends НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine), П’ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ (five hryven) below and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Reverse
On the reverse within the inner circle there are the logotype of the Council of Europe and the inscription 1949 РІК (1949 year); on the outer ring there are the inscriptions COUNCIL OF EUROPE, CONSEIL DE EUROPE, РАДА ЄВРОПИ (below).
