Obverse
Within the inset ring and against the mirror background there are depicted the spirals in the form of an egg which symbolizes the powerful life-giving breath. Within the outer ring there are depicted the small National Emblem of Ukraine, the circular inscriptions: УКРАЇНА, 5, ГРИВЕНЬ, 2001 (Ukraine/ 5/ hryvnia/ 2001) and the logotype of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Reverse
Within the insert ring there is a depiction of a Mother-woman with a baby. The composition symbolizes continuity and perpetuity of life. Within the outer ring there are depicted a symbolic star (above) and the circular inscriptions: НА МЕЖІ ТИСЯЧОЛІТЬ (On the Verge of Millenniums)
