Obverse
On the coin obverse there are depicted: above - the Small State Emblem of Ukraine and the semicircular legend Національний банк України (National Bank of Ukraine), a townscape, typical for the Eastern Ukraine of the 19th century; below there are the inscription 2/ГРИВНІ (2/Hryvnias), the coin issue year 2008 (on the right) and the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint (on the left).
Reverse
On the coin reverse there are Kvitka-Osnovianenko`s portrait and the legends: ГРИГОРІЙ КВІТКА-ОСНОВ’ЯНЕНКО (Hryhorii Kvitka-Osnovianenko) above in a semicircle, and 1778-1843 below.
