In the centre – the image of a globe standing on a book, surrounded by a scroll, a telescope and olive branches, under them – the inscription: "ОСНОВАНО в 1845 г." (FOUNDED in 1845), the inscription along the rim: "РУССКОЕ ГЕОГРАФИЧЕСКОЕ ОБЩЕСТВО" (RUSSIAN GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY) divided below by a dot.
