Obverse
In the center of the field, a stylized lion head and under it, the national motto of Burundi. On a semicircular shape, the words REPUBLIC OF BURUNDI, 5000 Francs, and 20 g 999 Silver.
Reverse
In the top two-thirds of the coin, there is a colorized picture of the Vought F4U Corsair airplane and its name, the lower third contains a stylized schematics of a WWII era fighter and the words HISTORY OF AVIATION. The dentils are marked in the shape of a compass.
