The Madara Rider on his horse, killing a lion with a spear. This image is taken from a large carving 100m up on a cliff face. Inscriptions with the sculpture chronicle events throughout the 8th century.
Reverse
Large face value in the centre: 50 LEVA; below the year of issue. Left from face fish; right from face the sun - symbols of ancient people of Bulgaria.
