There is depicted a conventionalized fragment of the Tale of Bygone Years page with its opening lines; the Small National Emblem of Ukraine is placed above in the centre of the coin, thereunder the inscription: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine), below there is the coin face value - 50 ГРИВЕНЬ (50 Hryvnias), the coin issue year - 2006, the metal and its fineness - Au 900, its weight in fineness - 15,55 g and the logotype of the National Emblem of Ukraine Mint.
Reverse
There is depicted a conventionalized iconographic portrait of Nestor writing his chronicle, the vertical legend НЕСТОР-ЛІТОПИСЕЦЬ (Nestor - / the chronicler is placed to the right and the inscription: XI - XII ст. (centuries) is placed below).
