Obverse
Above there is the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine with the semicircular inscription НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine); in the coin center, within the circle, there is depicted a fragment of the synagogue building facade, to the right and left whereof conventionalized ornamental patterns are; the coin issue year indication 2012 is to the right; below there is the legend: П'ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ (five hryvnias) on the albata coin; the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint is to the left of the coin centre.
Reverse
Against the background of the conventionalized decorative building plan there is depicted the synagogue; above there is the inscription СИНАГОГА в м. ЖОВКВА (synagogue in the city of Zhovkva).
