Within a frame of a baroque ornament decorated with seraphim's heads there is depicted the Small National Emblem of Ukraine and a four line legend: УКРАЇНА (Ukraine), 5 ГРИВЕНЬ (5 Hryvnia), 1998.
Reverse
There are depictions of the Assumption Cathedral, destroyed in 1941, and its ruins as well as the inscription: УСПЕНСКИЙ СОБОР КИЄВО-ПЕРЕРСЬКОЇ ЛАВРИ ХI СТ. (the Kyiv-Pechersk Assumption Cathedral of the 11th century)
