Description:
Obverse
On the coin obverse there is depicted a structure of the university (from the side of the Botanical garden) as well as the inscriptions: above there is a semicircular inscription: УКРАЇНА (Ukraine), under which - the small National Emblem of Ukraine and the coin issue year: 2004. Below there is the coin denomination: 2/ГРИВНІ (2 hryvnia) and the Mint logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Reverse
On the coin reverse there is a profile portrait of Maksymovych and the following inscriptions: МИХАЙЛО (Mykhailo) (on the left) -on both sides and in a half circle; МАКСИМОВИЧ (Maksymovych) (on the right) and beneath - 1804 - 1873, his years of life.
