Obverse
The obverse side of these coins features the coat of arms for the nation of Rwanda. This seal was redesigned by the national government in 2001. Along the bottom of the seal is the engraving “Ubumwe-Umurimo-Igihugu,” which translates from local Kinyarwanda to English as “Unity, Work, Patriotism.”
Reverse
On the reverse side of each coin is the image of a family of three gorillas. Also included on this side is an outline of the African continent, with a rugged finish.
