Obverse
Depicts the relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia - the two-headed eagle with wings down, and the semicircular inscription under it "" (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed by a circle of beads. The inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coin "ДВАДЦАТЬ ПЯТЬ" (TWENTY FIVE ROUBLES) and the year of issue "2014", between them - the indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, the purity, the Saint Petersburg mint trade mark and the fine precious metal content.
Reverse
In the lower part of the disc – the relief portrait of Galileo Galilei at the celestial globe with a telescope in his hand, in the second plan, against a background of blue colored starry sky and the diagram of the Heliocentric System, made by use of techniques of partial gilding and inserting of crystals, – figures of three scholars and the inscription along the rim: "ГАЛИЛЕО ГАЛИЛЕЙ" (GALILEO GALILEI), to the left – the relief image of the Falling Tower of Pisa, to the right – of a celestial body.
