In the centre - the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it - the semicircular inscription "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim - on top: "ДВА РУБЛЯ" (TWO RUBLES), below: to the left - indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre - the year of issue "2012 г." (2012), to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
In the central part of the disc in the foreground - the relief portrait of I.A. Goncharov holding in the right hand a sheet of paper with dates "1812-1891" on it, in the background to the right - the picture of an young man lying on a divan, to the left - park trees and pavilion with columns on the bank of a pond, in the bottom part of the disc - the facsimile of the writer.
