At the bottom right is the inscription of the country of issuance ‘PORTUGAL’ and at the top right is the name of the author ‘LUIS FILIPE DE ABREU’ followed by the mintmark ‘INCM’. The coin’s outer ring bears the 12 stars of the European Union.

A map, next to the facial value, shows the European continent without borders.
