A ship, caravel with lateen sails, sailing left where is shown a map of the Terra do Lavrador, current Greenland, drawn from maps of the Universal Cosmography of Guillaume le Testu (1555). A Portuguese navigator Joao Fernandes Lavrador has likely been at the origin of the name Labrador. Below, dates of Portuguese explorations of the region.
