Description:
Obverse
The obverse of the button-shaped coin features a circle. The year 1999 is placed between two holes in the centre of the circle. The inscription LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA (Republic of Latvia), and the numeral 1 and inscription LATS, each arranged in a semicircle, are respectively placed above and beneath the central motif. The two inscriptions are separated by stars.
Reverse
The reverse of the button-shaped coin is designed by applying matting. The central circle with two holes is polished, the outer ring is matted with an ornamental band. The inscription MILLENNIUM and the year 2000, each arranged in a semicircle, are placed in the upper and lower part of the coin, respectively.
