Description:
Obverse
This coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of death of the Hungarian painter Béla Spányi /1852-1914/.
The rich life's work of Spányi was focused entirely on landscape painting. He combined the seemingly insignificant natural landscapes with a very well-defined mood through his works. In 1893, he created five large frescos in the Hunters' Hall of the Hungarian Parliament.
The collector coin honouring this great Hungarian painter was designed by Enikő Szöllőssy, who depicted the portrait of the young Spányi on the front. A landscape inspired by Spányi is found on the back.
